Befriending our Bodies, Soothing our Souls:
Stress-Reduction & Self-Care Tools for
Empowering Ourselves and Changing The WorldFor ordering NOW-AAPD CD information, please send an e-mail to My Still River.
By Wendy Hilsen-Bernard, M.S., L.P.C.
Workshop recorded live at the NOW-AAPD Conference
Oct. 17-19, 2003When we establish the habit of self-care and renew ourselves in body and soul, our vitality and quality of life increase tremendously. From this place of inner fullness, we find the faith and fortitude we need to sustain our vision for human rights, and to work passionately to create change.
Robust good health, boundless joy, and equal opportunity are my wish for all people with disabilities. That's what this workshop is all about. These dynamic principles and practices are now available to everyone on this 80-minute audio CD. It provides:
1.) Stress-reduction and self-care tools for people with disabilities. Includes gentle stretches and adaptive yoga postures, breathing techniques for calming and energizing, several types of meditation, and life skills to enhance mental and emotional well-being.
2.) Practical wisdom and inspiration for effective grassroots activism. A great tool for support groups, chapter meetings, community organizing and recruiting/training volunteers.
